Pet Dental Care at Timberline Animal Hospital

Before every dental treatment, we use simple blood tests to confirm that your pet is a good candidate for anesthesia. During the treatment, your pet will be safely placed under anesthesia while we perform the dental exam and cleaning. Our trained technicians will carefully track your pet’s vital signs using a state-of-the-art digital monitoring system throughout the entire procedure.

Digital Radiography

Digital radiography (or digital x-ray) is an innovative dental technology that allows us to examine individual teeth for bone loss, hidden fractures, or abscesses that may be present. Digital x-ray images are ready instantly which allows our veterinarians to diagnose and treat your pet quickly, so you can return to enjoying more time with your pet.

At-Home Dental Care

Regular home dental care will prevent the buildup of plaque on your pet’s teeth. Brushing your cat or dog’s teeth on a daily basis significantly reduces the buildup of plaque on the teeth. Plaque is an accumulation of bacteria that can lead to periodontitis if ignored. Periodontitis causes pain and chronic oral infections that will eventually loosen and destroy the teeth, possibly leading to bone loss.

Common signs of dental disease in pets include:

  • Bad breath
  • Loose teeth
  • Bleeding from the mouth
  • Teeth that are discolored and/or covered in tartar
  • Drooling or dropping food from the mouth
  • Loss of appetite or weight loss
  • Sensitivity near the mouth area

Please call us to schedule a dental exam if your dog or cat exhibits any of these signs of dental disease.
